Hazard Communication, commonly known as HazCom, is a critical workplace safety standard that ensures employees understand the chemical hazards they may encounter on the job. This training provides clear, practical guidance on how chemical hazards are identified, communicated, and controlled in the workplace.

Aligned with the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, this course supports employees’ right to know and right to understand by equipping them with the knowledge needed to work safely with hazardous chemicals.

Course Content

This training is divided into focused sections that guide learners through essential Hazard Communication concepts and safe work practices.

First, the course introduces the purpose of Hazard Communication, including OSHA requirements, employee rights, and the role of the written Hazard Communication Program.

Next, learners explore different types of chemical hazards, including physical and health hazards, along with common workplace examples.

The course then explains how chemical hazards are communicated through labels, signal words, pictograms, and Safety Data Sheets. Learners will understand how to read and interpret this information to identify risks and follow proper precautions.

After that, the training covers routes of chemical exposure and the hierarchy of controls, including engineering controls, administrative practices, and personal protective equipment.

Finally, the course outlines safe response procedures for chemical spills and exposures, as well as employee rights and responsibilities under the Hazard Communication Standard.
